Informationen: Der Cirrusnebel, eine Ansammlung von Emissions- (rot) und Reflexionsnebel (blau), ist der Überrest einer Supernova-Explosion, die sich vor etwa 8000 Jahren ereignet hat. Er befindet sich im Sternbild Schwan und ist etwa 1500 Lichtjahre von der Erde entfernt. Diese Aufnahme zeigt den westlichen Teil des sogenannten Cygnusbogens. Der ganze Bogen umspannt etwa 3 Grad, was 6 mal einem Vollmonddurchmesser entspricht.
